Beauty in dismal places

This week whilst walking around the urban jungle that I live in I was pleasantly delighted to find a beautifully blossomed Hollyhock. This particular flower is Alcea rosea 'Black Beauty'.
It was growing down a rather dismal alleyway where it is not uncommon to find the faeces of dogs who's owners didn't want to clear up after them. Unfortunately it is also a great little short cut which is why my son and I found ourselves there on Wednesday evening.
I've never cared much for the urban jungle much preferring to wander the countryside soaking in its splendour. But, on occasion this urban jungle surprises me with a nugget of gold. This week it was this Black Beauty, I wonder what next week will bring?
Until next time, wishing you wonderfully nature filled week,
