Magic in the Mundane

Yesterday it rained hard. In fact I would go as far as to say it was torrential rain. Having had such a hot and dry summer I was not impressed by this sudden onslaught however much we may need it to replenish water supplies.

But, as we drove home from a childrens birthday party, damp and uncomfortable magic appeared. In the form of a rainbow. Then a second one appeared.

It's been a while since I've seen a nice rainbow, in fact when I do it's usually part of a rainbow. I never see the entire rainbow archway that dreams are made from.

However, magic was in our side and we stared in awe at this magnificent rainbow before us. So bright in its appearance it gave us such delight. Being the designated driver I was very aware that my attention was perhaps not quite where it should have been. But who couldn't not be distracted by such beauty?

So as we walked in the house our thoughts were not of being wet and icky, they were of rainbows and magic. That was a great way to end a lovely afternoon.
